The Fang: The Edge of Time Arete

Alpine Rock: The Edge of Time on the Fang 7p 5.10a

The route was only recently established in the Spring of 2023 by Washington Alpine Guide Ian Nicholson and his two long-time friends, Piolets d'Or winner and professional Alpinist Graham Zimmerman and fellow IFMGA Guide (and another Piolets d'Or winner) Tino Villanueva. The team spent considerable time drilling, cleaning, and establishing what they hoped would become an area classic. With seven pitches of consistently fun edging, with 5 of those pitches climbing right on the prow of the steep hanging Arete, creating excellent exposure and alpine ambiance. To top it off the The Fang has one of the “shorter” approaches for an alpine climb at Snoqualmie Pass.
